Heath and Dave

“There’s nothing worse than being ignored in Los Angeles”

Heath Mattioli / David Spacone
Screen writers / Filmmakers
Silverlake, Los Angeles, CA USA

Punk rockers, bikers, outlaws, gang members, big haired heavy metal dudes... Everything outside the norm is what seems to stick to Heath Mattioli's and Dave Spacone's minds. They seem to have a niche for hard to reach subjects. Heath & Dave work as screen writers, directors, documentarians and work under the moniker of Lowbrow Films. Friends since they were 14 years old, based in a little house up on a hill in Silverlake. These guys know the Los Angeles alternative scene like no others.

If you thought Clockwork Orange was scary—this is the real deal / Dave about the LMP

Punk Rock: New York invented it, Britain made it fashionable and L.A. made it better /Heath about punk rock

Right now they are finishing a documentary nearly five years in the making about Mongols MC, a motorcycle gang from Southern California. Up next is their ongoing project about a certain punk rock gang called LMP that spread fear on the streets of L.A. in the early 80's. Violent as hell. So it really takes guts to write about it. These gang members were some pretty hard knuckled psychopaths. The story will hopefully end up as both a book and a feature film. Something to really look forward to since Heath & Dave always tend to do it their own interesting way. Or as they describe themselves:

"We write and make films that come from our gut. A lot of people write to achieve something in Hollywood, we do it to make a distinct contribution. Keep stories compelling you should never know what's coming next... Our films are gritty subculture, an artistic look at dirt under your finger nails. We find beauty in what most people overlook."
